Applications are sought from dedicated and suitably qualified persons for appointment as the Inspector-General of Biosecurity (IGB) for a term of up to five years.

 

The Australian Government established the statutory office of the Inspector-General of Biosecurity to independently review the performance of functions and exercise of powers by biosecurity officials of the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry and to provide assurance over Australia’s biosecurity risk management systems.

 

The IGB sets an annual review program in consultation with the Director of Biosecurity and the Agriculture Minister and conducts independent evaluation and verification of the appropriateness of biosecurity risk management programs across the biosecurity continuum.
