About PYEC & the Junior Ranger Program

Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara Education Committee Aboriginal Corporation (PYEC) is an Aṉangu-led organisation supporting education in the APY Lands. PYEC works closely with the South Australian Department for Education and runs programs to enhance education, cultural identity, and employment pathways for Aṉangu youth. 


The Junior Ranger Program is an innovative new initiative trialling in two APY Lands sites. The program promotes connection to cultural knowledge and land management practices, supporting young Aṉangu to enhance their wellbeing, educational achievement, and employment opportunities. It prioritises Aṉangu governance, community-led education, and hands-on, on-country learning experiences.
