About Company

AbSec is the peak organisation advocating for the rights and well-being of Aboriginal children, young people, and families in NSW.

Working with AbSec AbSec staff form a hard-working and committed group. If you’re an Aboriginal person with experience in the child and family sector and a passion for supporting our communities, this could be the perfect workplace for you.

Your work here will be rewarding, impactful, and vital to our mission. If you’re ready to contribute your skills and passion to a meaningful cause, apply today and become part of AbSec! Applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged.

  • Competitive remuneration: We value our staff and believe in fair compensation for their hard work and dedication.
  • Salary packaging: Maximise your pre-tax income and make the most out of your earnings.
  • Standard 35-hour work week: We believe in work-life balance and maintaining a healthy workload.
  • Additional annual leave: We recognise NAIDOC Day and Sorry Day with extra leave to honor these important occasions.
  • Hybrid working environment: Enjoy a friendly and supportive office with the team, and having the option to work some days at home! For applicable roles.

Most AbSec staff are based in our main Redfern office in Sydney, on Gadigal land. The office is easily accessible by train and bus, and there is car parking available in the area to make getting to work a breeze.

Before applying to work with us, please note:

  • Successful applicants are required to provide a current Police Check and a Working With Children Check before commencing employment with AbSec.
  • Some roles at AbSec are Indigenous identified positions, meaning only Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander candidates may apply for them. This is a genuine employment criterion in compliance with State and Commonwealth law.
  • When recruiting for non-identified positions, we may still give preference to Aboriginal applicants. These applicants are likely to bring unique cultural knowledge and proficiency to the role, and employing Aboriginal people helps to reduce the gap in employment outcomes between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians.
